It all boils down to which candidate can impress the students at the Fair Haven Grade School, since they'll be the ones deciding the race on Town Meeting Day.

"We really want to instill that engagement in our youth. This year they might vote for a goat or a cat, but when they turn 18 maybe they'll vote for the selectman," said Gunter.

It's a hands-on, or paws-on, lesson in democracy.
