Tie Dye Fun!
As we look forward to planning our Big Celebration at the end of the school year (more information to come as we get closer) we are looking for your support and help!
We are planning to tie dye shirts, so as a school community we can all wear our shirts on the last day of school. If you have availability to provide a white t-shirt for your child to tie dye that would be greatly appreciated. If you are interested in providing a few extra t-shirts for your child's classroom peers, that would also be greatly appreciated!
Please have your child's t-shirt delivered to school no later than June 6th.
Thanks again for your support and help with this project!

Ms. Janny and Miss Burke's 2nd graders went to Lake St. Catherine yesterday to help get rid of an invasive plant, garlic mustard. We played games and made a graph to show how invasive species can take over and destroy other plants.
Although it was a rainy day, we saved thousands of native plants and butterflies at the park. Thank you to Kyle Mason and the Rutland County Foresters for having us! We had a blast and look forward to coming back next year!

The Cougar visited again on Tuesday! The cougar had lunch with our winning passports drawn from our Celebration of Learning!

"Slate Valley students are sending a sweet message to children in Ukraine. Recently, students across the district have been making care packages containing maple candy to send children living in the war-torn eastern European country."

Dear Slate Valley Staff and Families,
Unfortunately Covid-19 is making a resurgence in our area. If anyone is experiencing symptoms, even if you think it is just allergies or other illness, it is still recommended that you test to be sure. You can request tests from the school if you need them. If you are unable to test, you should stay home if you have symptoms until you feel better.
You can also choose to wear a mask, wash your hands frequently, keep your hands away from your nose and mouth, clean surfaces frequently and distance yourself where you feel it is necessary.
Please see the Department of Health website for more in depth information. Hopefully by following these strategies, we can keep this resurgence to a minimum.

Please reach out to your school nurse if you have any questions.
Best,
Brooke Olsen-Farrell
Superintendent

First graders enjoyed visiting landforms they are learning about using virtual reality! Students saw the Grand Canyon, Mississippi River and other amazing landforms. Thank you to Lisa Cacciatore for helping to make this happen!
