Today our 4th grade embarked on their traditional trip to Fort Ticonderoga on the shores of Lake Champlain. Sergeant Stuart retold the history of the fort, demonstrated firing a musket and ran through various orders such as dressing the line, turning direction, and marching to different locations on the grounds . It was a great living history experience.

Yesterday, students in 4th grade presented their final report assignment from Mr. Canty for the 23/24 school year. The Reptile and Amphibian Reports were very popular and featured many of the creatures we might see in the wilds of Vermont. Students presented information about their chosen animal's diet, physical characteristics, habitat, importance to their environment, along with extra facts that they thought were interesting. In addition, each student wrote either an Acrostic or Haiku poem about their animal. Each student practiced oral speaking along with physical presence during a presentation. The 4th grade students have enjoyed these projects immensely! Thank you Mr. Canty for another year of fun projects!

Slate Valley Unified wishes everyone a safe, enjoyable Memorial Day Weekend! On this Monday we hope you take a moment to honor and remember the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for our freedom.
