We want to share an important update regarding a recent cybersecurity incident within the Slate Valley district.
On September 3, we detected unusual activity on our network and immediately launched an investigation alongside third-party cybersecurity specialists. While our comprehensive review remains ongoing, preliminary findings indicate that certain employee data was subject to unauthorized access, which likely includes Social Security numbers for some or all staff members.
At this time, we do not believe that data belonging to current students was impacted by this incident. Should our understanding change as the investigation progresses, we will notify the community immediately.
Steps We Are Taking
Cybersecurity Experts: We are actively working with specialists to secure our systems and thoroughly review all affected data.
Employee Support: We are expediting free credit monitoring services for all district personnel, regardless of whether their individual data is ultimately confirmed as impacted. Affected staff will also receive formal, individual notifications.
