Matt and Andrew came from Woodard Marine to talk with our school about boat design and the purpose of different boat hulls. They did an amazing job and our students were well-informed for our 2nd STEAM Event

A HUGE shout-out to Ms. Nadler, BVS Librarian, for her work on this! 📚s for 🐻s! Hello, I’m reaching out from Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), the nation’s leading children’s literacy non-profit, with an opportunity for free books for your K-3 students. We’ve partnered with Sylvamo to provide your school with RIF’s Books for Ownership program which provides each student with three new books with bookplates, a bookmark, and an activity sheet. Benson Village School has been identified to be a recipient of these literacy resources for your students. Your K-3 students will get to choose and take home three new books with bookplate stickers, giving students a place to write their names. They will also receive a bookmark and an activity sheet which can be completed in-class or at home.

Department of Public Safety
This morning, February 8th, we were under a Hold in Place (Secure the Building) at Fair Haven Union Middle/High School for approximately 15 minutes as a precautionary measure due to a concerning call made to the Fair Haven Police Department. Hoax calls like this have been coming into schools across the state and country recently. While there hasn’t been any credibility to these hoax calls, we wanted to make sure we were taking the proper precautions as student/staff safety is our number one priority. Again, there is no immediate threat to Fair Haven Union Middle/High School. Law enforcement led our response, and at this time we have released the Hold in Place.

School Counselor Appreciation Week
Lots of math games were played in 4/5/6! 5th and 6th graders practiced rounding and adding decimals to make one whole, while 4th graders wrote as many addition and multiplication equations to model fractions on a geoboard to beat the other team.
