That's a warp on January 2022! FHGS is happy to share our January Newsletter with families. Check out what our students have been busy with the past month. https://5il.co/14znw

Fair haven Grade School successfully completed an "All Options" drill today. We thank our teachers, staff and students for their cooperation in completing the drill.

Middle School students tackled an engineering design challenge proposed by Ms. Cacciatore. They were given an Edison robot, a pen and an EdCreate expansion pack along with this prompt; "Attach a pen to an Edison robot using EdCreate so the robot can draw a shape."
Be sure to check out the video clip of the challenge here: https://youtu.be/0UMY0XnWPsY

Mrs. McCrea's kindergarten class created an alphabet path for the Ozobots to follow. Working with Ms. Cacciatore, they were successful in having the robots run non stop from A to Z!

Yesterday at FHGS we celebrated the halfway point of the year with a pajama day. We also had a schoolwide "story hour." Some classrooms read independent reading books, some read stories together, and others completed book related crafts. 4th grade read "Rosie Revere Engineer" and did a STEAM activity where they had to create a mode of transportation that would hold Rosie and survive the trip down the zipline in their classroom. The PTO provided snacks for the ENTIRE school. Thank you to our wonderful PTO for adding to our celebration!

As a reminder - Tomorrow, Wednesday the 26th, will be a half day for students. Lunches will be provided and dismissal will be just before 11:30am.
We are also going to be celebrating the mid-point of the school year with a school-wide pajama day! Everyone can wear their pajamas if they would like to.
The PTO will be providing snacks for all the classrooms!

Dear Slate Valley Families,
We again thank you for your patience and understanding as we all contend with the ever changing guidance. This is happening nationwide in regards to the Return-to-Play Protocol. While it is still recommended, we no longer require the medical clearance form for your child to return to physical activity including sports, PE, and recess. We encourage you to communicate with your child’s physician after their covid diagnosis, but they will no longer be excluded from physical activity. Please let us know if your child has restrictions following their covid illness, but otherwise they will be able to participate fully in all physical activity. Again, we apologize for this change and please contact your school nurse with any questions.
Sincerely,
Brooke Olsen-Farrell,
Superintendent
