This morning, February 8th, we were under a Hold in Place (Secure the Building) at Fair Haven Union Middle/High School for approximately 15 minutes as a precautionary measure due to a concerning call made to the Fair Haven Police Department. Hoax calls like this have been coming into schools across the state and country recently. While there hasn’t been any credibility to these hoax calls, we wanted to make sure we were taking the proper precautions as student/staff safety is our number one priority. Again, there is no immediate threat to Fair Haven Union Middle/High School. Law enforcement led our response, and at this time we have released the Hold in Place.
Recess fun in the snow!

If you see any of these wonderful people, please thank them for their dedication in helping our students! Slate Valley is fortunate to have this dynamic team in our district!

4th graders used string to model fractions in an egg carton. We were able to determine what fractions were equal to 8 eggs, and 3 eggs using our new skills!

The 4/5/6 kids learned about the Ruffed Grouse today through the VT Wildlife’s Scat & Track program, so we headed out on an adventure to look for signs of the Ruffed Grouse and White Footed Mouse in the wooded areas near the school. We discovered scat, tracks, bones, nests, and evidence of the grouse and other animals. Some students were even lucky enough to spot a White Footed Mouse!
