What a great way to start the day!! Our Falcon swooped in to FHGS this morning to welcome students and staff to school.

Students enjoyed building and racing their cars in the 2nd annual grade 6 FHGS Pinewood Derby. Congratulations to all our 6th graders on their creative designs and an evening of fun watching you race your cars. Thank you families for joining us for this event!

Falcons Awards aren't just for grade levels. Our Special Area Teachers also acknowledge the amazing things our students are doing. We are so proud of all our award recipients this month!

A letter from FHGS Kindergarten teachers:
Dear families and members of the community,
The past few months, Kindergarten students at Fair Haven Grade School have spent a great deal of time learning about the concept of community and, more specifically, our own communities. Students explored community places, community workers, different community environments, and brainstormed ways to help our community. As part of the unit, we're excited to share our culminating project which entends to benefit members of our community. This year, students participated in writing brief notes or letters of thanks to veterans that have served our country. These notes will be placed around Fair Haven at various shops and strores with an accompanyingy donation bin. All proceeds will be donated to Friends of Veterans, a local nonporfit organization. Should you have interest in donating directly, please feel free to send donations to the grade school with a note that it is for the Kindergarten Friends of Veterans project, or seek out a donation bin at a local establishement. As always, thank you for your interest and support in our work.
Sincerely,
Mr. Danyow & Mrs. McCrea

Another great month of Falcon Awards! So exciting to hear about the amazing work our students are doing. Keep SOARing Falcons!

At Fair Haven Grade School, pure happiness was on display as kindergartners used the parachute for the first time in PE class!

Message from Superintendent Brooke Olsen-Farrell:
Dear Slate Valley,
We hope you're doing well. We wanted to give you an update on the school budget revote, unfortunately, it didn't pass. The vote count was 544 in favor and 947 against. We understand this news may be disappointing for some, as it is for us, considering there are factors beyond our control.
Our main focus remains on providing the best education for our students while being financially responsible. We're actively seeking alternative solutions following this second budget failure. The third budget vote is likely to happen in May.
We encourage open dialogue and welcome any suggestions or concerns you may have. We'll soon hold meetings to discuss the failure, gather feedback, and explore options moving forward. Your participation and engagement are vital during this process.
Thank you for your ongoing support, and we're eager to work together to tackle this challenge.
Sincerely,
Brooke Olsen-Farrell, Superintendent

Today, Ms. McCrea's kindergarten class went to the Community Bank to learn about the job of a bank teller. Miss Bobbi was wonderful and the kids loved it.

Please VOTE Today!

Today, Mr Danyow's Kindergarten class took a walking field trip to Community Bank as part of their Community Social Studies unit. Students wrote down questions to ask the bank employees. Students expressed their "wonders" such as wondering what a bank is, what a bank does, what happens at the bank, how do you get some money, where does the money go, does everyone get a lollipop at the bank,
and why do banks have that "cool tube"?
