Kindergarten students listened to the book, "If You Find a Leaf". They used their listening skills to retell and make connections. Then they used their imagination and fine motor skills to turn a leaf into something different. The children made boats, hammocks, rocket ships and more.

SVU teachers, who are also alumni of Castleton University, came together to share their experiences in the field with two Vermont State University-Castleton classes. The classes were comprised of future educators who are either currently doing their student teaching or will be in the spring.
The panel of Slate Valley teachers responded to the following prompts:
What surprised you about teaching during your first few years?
What successes have you experienced in teaching, and what allowed for your success?
What do you wish you knew before you had your own classroom?
What advice do you have for those who are soon to enter teaching?
It was another great collaboration between Slate Valley and Castleton University.

Kindergarten students are learning to match numbers with the correct tally marks, and they are doing a great job!

What a great start to our Spirit Week here at FHGS. Yesterday was book character day and our students showed off some of their favorite characters. This is just a few of the pictures from yesterday. More to come all week long with our awesome Spirit Week!

Our students enjoyed a performance by Karen Montanaro. Karen has performed in hundreds of schools entertaining and educating students about the art forms of mime and dance and uses her phenomenal technique and control in both ballet and performance-mime to tell stories through movement. Some of our students and Mrs. Infurna were asked to participate in the performance. It was awesome to see the reaction from our students and watch them try out some of the techniques while they were watching. Thank you Karen for sharing your art with us!

Today FHGS 1st graders walked to FHUMHS so they could cheer on the Field Hockey team as they proceeded to win the first playoff game. Congratulations! And thank you to the little super fans for their enthusiasm!
