Fair Haven Union Middle and High School

Quick reminder: Girls Soccer Senior Night is tonight (10/9) vs. Otter Valley. We will start the ceremony at 5:45 PM. Live-streaming of the event will be available via our Fair Haven Union High School - Official Facebook page. Tickets will go on sale at 5 PM at $5 per person. Each FHUHS Girls Soccer will be allotted (8) tickets for senior night. The remaining athletes from both teams will be allowed their normal (2) spectator tickets. We predict there will be 25 general admission tickets available, however, more may become available at game time. As always, fans are welcome to wait and see if there are any unclaimed tickets.

Dear Slate Valley Families, We are very fortunate to be entering the 6th week of in-person learning in Slate Valley. Our district had one of the most aggressive plans for the return to school for our students in the state and to date it has been very successful. However, we are still in the midst of a pandemic and we all need to do our part. We do not want to find ourselves in a situation where we have to move to remote learning as we strongly believe that it is not what is best for our students. As Halloween approaches we are hearing of different events that are being held in the communities of Slate Valley. We continue to remind everyone to take the health guidelines into consideration when planning activities. We know this is a difficult time for us all and especially our children. The CDC has released guidance (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/daily-life-coping/holidays.html#halloween) on low, moderate, and high risk activities for celebration. We want all of our children to have fun and also remain safe and healthy. We truly care about the health and well-being of all of our Slate Valley Community. Be well, Brooke Farrell Superintendent

FHUHS REAL Class Sponsors a Care Package Donation Drive Oct. 12th-Oct. 23rd It is our goal to collect items to make over 50 care packages that can be given to homeless youth and families in need within our community. Please Help us make this possible by donating the following foods and items: Pop Top Canned Food Packaged Crackers or Trail Mix Youth or Adult Socks Winter Hats Soap Mini Shampoo Hand Lotion Hand Warmers All Donations can be dropped off at local drop boxes out front of FHUHS, Fair Haven Grade School, Castleton Village School or Benson Village School. If you would like to make a donation but can’t make it to one of our drop boxes please feel free to contact Nicole Rice, nrice@svuvt.org for pick up.

The V Girls Soccer game tonight (10/8) @ Mill River @ 4 PM will be live-streamed through their Facebook page. No spectators are allowed at Mill River, but please make sure to root them on virtually!

The Girls Soccer game @ Mill River today (10/7) has been postponed until tomorrow (10/8) @ 4 pm. The Field Hockey game has been cancelled today (10/7). Reschedule date is TBD.

All FHUHS Fall sports practices today (10/7) have been CANCELLED! Decisions in regards to the field hockey and girls soccer games today will be posted by 1 pm.

Tonight, Varsity Football has their home opener against the Raiders from Rutland. General admission tickets will not be available for this game, but please join us virtually through our FHUHS Official Facebook live-stream starting at 5:45 PM! Cross-state Travel Update - Please view the updated cross-state travel map: https://accd.vermont.gov/covid-19/restart/cross-state-travel. Washington and Essex Counties in NY are now green, so you can travel to those counties this weekend. Warren and Saratoga Counties (NY) remain on the quarantine list though. Also, while there are no travel restrictions within the state of Vermont, Addison, Bennington and Grand Isle Counties have a large increase in infection rates.

Dear Slate Valley Families, The Cross-State Travel map changed again today and many of the NY counties that border Vermont now require a 14 day quarantine if you travel there for non-essential activity. This includes Washington, Essex, Warren and Saratoga Counties. Please know that as a school district we are required to enforce these rules by the Department of Health. This means that if your child travels to any of these areas for non-essential activities such as but not limited to apple picking, dance lessons, sports, funerals, etc they will be required to quarantine and will not be allowed to attend school in person. Update on tonight's AWAY Varsity Football game @ Middlebury (9/29): Parents will NOT receive physical tickets for this game, instead Middlebury will be using our varsity football roster. Each athlete has (2) tickets available to them which can be claimed at admissions. Parents will have to state which athlete they are there for when they arrive. Once the (2) tickets are claimed, no additional tickets can be claimed for that athlete.

Our first home FHUHS Athletic Event is tonight (9/28)! Boys Soccer will kick things off vs. the Minutemen from Mill River at 6 pm. Ticket sales will begin at 5 pm. Tickets are $5 per person. Please make sure to bring exact change. Tonight's game will be live-streamed through our Facebook page. The link is available now. Each student-athlete has (2) tickets reserved for them for parents / guardians. These tickets are based off of the roster. Each parent/guardian will have to claim which athlete they are there for. The remaining tickets will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. Our spectator limit is set by the state at 150 people. Masks ( face shields and single ply gaiters are not permitted) and social distancing are mandatory. Masks should be worn once you step out of your car until you get back into your car after the game. Spectators who neglect to follow these rules will be removed All spectators must enter through Pine Street / Charlotte's shack and be screened prior to entrance.
