As of this moment, Fair Haven Grade School and Fair Haven Union Middle & High School will be open tomorrow, September 1st, unless something new unfolds overnight. Water has been restored to the Town. However, we will be under a boil water advisory. This means staff and students cannot drink the water in the school. We will have bottled water on hand if needed. Breakfast and lunch will be made off site and transported to FHGS and FHUMHS. It will be a brown bagged breakfast and lunch.
Here's a brief update on the water situation as it relates to the opening of FHGS and FHUMHS tomorrow. Currently, we do not have water in the Town of Fair Haven. The Town fixed the original break but another occurred shortly after. The Town Manager will call later this evening with another update. We do not want to close school for a second day, so the decision will be pushed off as long as possible. A decision will be made before 8:00 PM tonight. If there is school tomorrow, there will be a boil water advisory, meaning staff and students cannot drink the water in the school. Bottled water will be on hand if needed. Introducing the Slate Valley Mascots! This year we will have various events where our mascots compete against each other, called Slate Valley Mascot Madness. On opening day in-service for Faculty and Staff, the mascots competed in a quick Hula Hoop Race, with Blue from Benson winning by quite a substantial margin. Stay tuned for more upcoming events! There will be no school for Fair Haven Grade School and Fair Haven Union Middle & High School on Thursday, August 31st due to the townwide water main break. This decision was made on advice from Fair Haven Town. All other schools in Slate Valley, Castleton Elementary School, Orwell Village School and Benson Village School will be open and operating per usual.

The grades 5 through 12 Athletic Opener Meeting scheduled for tonight has been cancelled due to a Fair Haven townwide main water break. This meeting will be rescheduled.

Tonight Fair Haven Union Middle School held an Open House event for seventh and eighth grade students, along with their families. Students received their schedules, and were able to visit each classroom and teacher, as well as locate their locker and practice the combination lock.
Please join us on Wednesday, August 30th, at 5:30 PM for our "Athletic Opener" Meeting. The meeting will be held in the high school gymnasium. There are several goals for the meeting, including informing families of athletic opportunities, sports registration processes, and family communication systems. We look forward to seeing you there!
