From the Burlington Free Press article (https://bit.ly/3LtDxaK) Unsung heroes: 10 girls basketball players who do the 'little things' to help their teams: Every team needs them. Unsung heroes who impact games beyond the box score or score sheet - players who don't necessarily score to add their value for successful programs. They provide the "little things" to help their teams win - from lockdown defense and leadership to hustle plays and in-game execution - and they generally do so without the fanfare and headlines. This feature intends to recognize such a player who deserves some spotlight. Tegan Hoard, Fair Haven - An undersized power forward, the senior Hoard is very active on the defensive end, draws a number of over-the-back calls because of good box-out technique and has the ability to contribute offensively when given the chance. "She uses her body really well and isn't afraid to go up against people taller than her on a nightly basis," Fair Haven coach Kyle Wilson said. "She's a tremendous worker and has really improved from freshman year until now." This season, Hoard hasn't missed a foul shot and averages four rebounds and about one steal per game.

Hello Future Slater Nation Families! We are very excited to be holding our Student Step-up Night tomorrow, February 10th, at Fair Haven Union Middle and High School starting at 6:00 pm. The evening will begin with a brief welcome from our Administrative team in the high school gymnasium. From there, incoming 7th and 8th-grade families will have the opportunity to meet middle school teachers in the gym, as well as explore the variety of clubs and extracurricular activities we will offer at the middle school. Incoming 9th-grade families will explore the high school (there will be plenty of Student Council members helping to guide you through the building) to meet the high school teachers and tour classrooms throughout the building. We will strongly encourage our 7th and 8th-grade families to explore the whole school after the initial 'meet and greet' in the gym. This will give everyone a chance to see all the shared Specials rooms (art, music, library, World Language, and Special Education), as well as experience the high school environment for future reference. The evening will end at approximately 7:00 pm. We do ask that all visitors follow the mandated mask policies while in the building, and we strongly encourage social distancing to the best of your ability, as well as the use of hand sanitizer. Please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. We are very excited to welcome you to the middle and high school! Sincerely, Ben Worthing, Principal (802)265-4966
