This evening event will be a follow-up to the student fieldtrip earlier in the afternoon. We are excited to have all of our grade schools visiting FHU during the school day on May 24th. We are planning opportunities for students to meet their teachers, spend time with their advisory class ("homeroom"), meet new friends, participate in fun team-building activities, and enjoy a BBQ lunch together. Overall, we feel the 24th will be a great opportunity for students and families alike!
Please feel free to contact Ben Worthing if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you next Tuesday!

Congratulations to Luke Williams, senior at Fair Haven Union High School, who was honored on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at Castleton University by the National Football Foundation. Luke was Fair Haven Union High School's Athlete Honoree!

Students in Mrs. Clement's Ethnic and Advanced Foods Class spent time last week making sushi. This course creates wonderful opportunities for students to explore (and taste) world cultures!

The FHU Theater Team performed their student-written plays in front of a live, interactive audience at Wednesday's Celebration of Learning. They are preparing to take the plays to Benson, Orwell, Castleton, and Fair Haven's grade schools on June 2nd. Based on the expressions of the FHU audience, we believe the grade school students are going to absolutely love the shows!

The FHU Band and Chorus students put on excellent "mini-concerts" for all of our students at Wednesday's Celebration of Learning! They all sounded great (and had fantastic audience participation with their Neil Diamond "Sweet Caroline" song)!

Dear Slate Valley Staff and Families,
Unfortunately Covid-19 is making a resurgence in our area. If anyone is experiencing symptoms, even if you think it is just allergies or other illness, it is still recommended that you test to be sure. You can request tests from the school if you need them. If you are unable to test, you should stay home if you have symptoms until you feel better.
You can also choose to wear a mask, wash your hands frequently, keep your hands away from your nose and mouth, clean surfaces frequently and distance yourself where you feel it is necessary.
Please see the Department of Health website for more in depth information. Hopefully by following these strategies, we can keep this resurgence to a minimum.

Please reach out to your school nurse if you have any questions.
Best,
Brooke Olsen-Farrell
Superintendent

Mr. Merolle's Horticulture students had a blast teaching the Orwell and Fair Haven Grade School 4th-graders about sugaring, grafting apple trees, beekeeping, and sunflower propagation! The 4th-graders came to visit as a part of their service project shipping maple sugar candies to children in Ukraine. It may have been a chilly fieldtrip, but you would not have known it from the excitement and fun all the students had!
